With a tentative release date of March 30, Moon Knight is slated to be the newest Marvel release in 2022, following the success of Spiderman: No Way Home last year. Apart from the trailer, there isn’t much information about the show, but here is what we know so far.

  1. It Stars Oscar Isaac in the Lead

Oscar Isaac is known for his roles in sci-fi films like Dune, Ex Machina, and the latest Star Wars films. Now he’s joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is all set to play the titular Moon Knight, a former mercenary who now becomes the channel for Khonshu, the Egyptian God of the Moon.

  1. It is Part of Marvel’s White & Blood Mini-series

Moon Knight is the first in Marvel’s White & Blood Mini-series that also includes Wolverine, Deadpool, Carnage, and Elektra. A beloved character in the comics, this will be Marc Spektor/Moon Knight’s first appearance on screen.

  1. It is Based on Egyptian Legends

Marvel is known for taking creative liberties with western mythology and legends, such as the Thor movies or Eternals. For Moon Knight, the show draws from the Egyptian pantheon. Khonshu is clearly based upon Khosnu, an ancient Egyptian moon god whose name means “traveler.” Egyptian filmmaker Mohammed Diab will also be directing the series.

  1. It Will Explore Mental Illness

Oscar Isaac’s character will be struggling with dissociative identity disorder (DID) as he switches from his ex-Marine CIA agent identity to becoming a vessel for an ancient and powerful deity. Although the plot is under wraps, we hope the show will take a nuanced look at living with mental disorders.

  1. It is Six Episodes in Total

As a mini-series, Moon Knight will have six episodes in all, and we don’t yet know if the show will be renewed for a second season.
