These days face masks are hiding people’s expressions for better or for worse, but hey, at least there’s still emojis to get your message across. Apple has unveiled its slate of new emojis ahead of this Spring’s forthcoming iOS update, iOS 14.5.

The whopping 217 emoji additions feature three new smileys described as Exhaling Face, Face With Spiral Eyes, and Face in Clouds. Y’know, the three pandemic moods.

Speaking of the pandemic, CNET reports the new iOS update will allow covid-compliant users to unlock their phones or watches while wearing face masks. Apple’s pandemic-friendly messaging seems to extend to its modification of the syringe emoji now sans blood as vaccination is on its way worldwide. Now, even your memoji can sport a facemask too, in addition to upgrades like AirPods and durags.

Emojis will also see more diversity in skin tones for the kiss and coupling emojis along with gender diversity providing a “woman with beard”.

New emojis also include Heart on Fire, for all your fiery love needs, and Mending Heart, primed for the deluge of Instagram captions to follow Certified Lover Boy once Drake releases it.

Brush up on your emojis before you get caught using the cry-laughing emoji, which Gen Z just told CNN was “for boomers.” Ouch.
